Will Woodhead is the CEO and Co-Founder of Mafic, a construction intelligence company which uses information from wearables to better understand how projects perform at a granular level to allow future projects to perform at a higher level. Mafic Safeguard is a wearable device which uses machine learning to understand the activity someone is performing from the movement of their head. Will will introduce the technology as well as Mafic’s current dataset from residential and commercial sectors in UK and Europe. He will lift the lid on what a typical productivity distribution looks like in a workforce and then demonstrate the impact this has on the economics of a project and why projects can still save money by doubling the good people’s salary.

Will is an Engineer by trade and spent the first 20 years of his career working overseas in shipyards in China, Japan and Korea. He has been part of the most complex offshore projects the oil and gas industry has seen and worked in cultures and environments alien to many. He studied Mandarin in Shanghai Jiao tong University and more recently worked for Samsung Heavy Industries where he wrestled with managing large workforces over large areas in sometimes harsh environments. It was here where the idea of Mafic came to Will and he brought his family back to the UK to start a new chapter in their lives and a new chapter in the construction industry.
